BassIQ ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password (we never store your plain-text password).

Location data: When you use the app, you provide a lake name and coordinates. We use this to fetch live conditions and generate recommendations. We do not track your device's GPS location without your explicit input.

Saved locations: Premium users may save lake names and coordinates to their account. This data is stored in our database and associated with your user ID.

Usage data: We may collect anonymized data about how the app is used (pages visited, features used) to improve the Service. We do not sell this data.

Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number. Stripe's privacy policy governs their handling of payment data.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and operate the Service
• To send account-related emails (confirmation, password reset)
• To send weekly fishing forecast emails to Premium subscribers who have saved lakes (you can opt out at any time)
• To improve the accuracy and relevance of fishing recommendations
• To enforce our Terms of Service

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate BassIQ:

• Supabase — database and authentication hosting
• Stripe — payment processing
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• Anthropic (Claude) — AI recommendation generation. Your location and conditions data is sent to generate recommendations. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests.
• Render — application hosting

Each of these providers has their own privacy policy governing their use of data.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial record-keeping purposes.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

BassIQ uses browser local storage to remember your session and app preferences (such as whether you have dismissed the install prompt). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send

7. Children's Privacy

BassIQ is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and row-level database security. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
